Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and police have left for the under-construction site.

Around nine workers of Nepali origin have gone missing in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district after a cloudburst damaged an under-construction hotel site in the area.
Around 28 workers were engaged in road construction work at the site and lived there by putting up tents. It is feared that nine of them have swept away by heavy rain following the cloudburst.
The incident took place at around 2 am last night and a rescue operation is underway to find those missing.
According to news agency PTI, the cloudburst took place near Paligad-Silai Band in Tehsil Barkot. The highway is closed at many places, including Silai bend, since the cloudburst.

Reacting to the cloudburst, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said in a post on X, “I am in constant contact with the concerned authorities regarding this matter. I pray to God for everyone’s safety.”
The water level in Yamuna has increased following heavy rain and the Kupda Kunshala Trikhili motor bridge in Syanachatti is also in danger, reported PTI.
“This incident happened near Silai band in Barkot. A hotel was under construction where around 28 workers were working. Eight or nine of them are missing. Rescue operation is underway,” said Uttarakhand Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman.
