The highest railway bridge of the world has opened in India. Located in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, the bridge is expected to significantly boost tourism and economic activity in the region, especially benefiting pilgrimage sites like Vaishno Devi and destinations across the Kashmir Valley.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world’s highest railway bridge — the Chenab Rail Bridge — on 6th June in Jammu and Kashmir. The inauguration is part of a major infrastructure push in the region, marking a milestone in engineering and connectivity.
Chenab Bridge: Taller Than Eiffel Tower
Standing above the riverbed, the Chenab Bridge is taller than the Eiffel Tower. Spanning 1,315 metres, it features a steel arch designed to resist harsh winds and earthquakes, making it a global engineering marvel.
Part of the USBRL Mega Rail Project
The Chenab Bridge is a crucial component of the 272-km Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), aimed at improving rail connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir. The USBRL project is expected to boost mobility, trade, and tourism in the region.
Anji Rail Bridge, Vande Bharat Trains Flagged Off
In line with the commitment to boost rail infrastructure and connectivity in the region, he inaugurated the Chenab and Anji rail bridges and flagged off Vande Bharat Trains, enhancing connectivity within Jammu and Kashmir.
Vaishno Devi’s Katra-Sringar Vande Bharat
Prime Minister also flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar and back. They will offer a swift, comfortable, and reliable travel option for residents, tourists, pilgrims among others.
