ICONIC filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer died from multiple sharp force injuries, a medical examiner has confirmed after it was reported that their throats were slashed while in bed.
The couple’s son Nick Reiner stands accused of brutally stabbing them to death in their lavish, multi-million-dollar home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles on Sunday.

Reiner and his wife’s manner of death were described as a homicide, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed on Wednesday.
Nick, the couple’s 32-year-old son, was living with his parents at the time, and he was seen bickering with them at a holiday party on Saturday evening, a source previously The U.S. Sun.
Their bodies were discovered by their horrified daughter Romy, who later told cops that Nick was “dangerous” and should be considered a suspect, according to TMZ.
Nick is being held without bail after being charged with two counts of first-degree murder, which could result in the death penalty.
The source previously told The U.S. Sun that people at Saturday’s party were “shocked” to hear about the killings, but once they “heard Nick was implicated, no one was surprised.”
Nick appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday since his arrest, wearing a suicide vest.
He is reportedly being held on suicide watch at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.
The disgraced son was arrested near a gas station in near Exposition Park, about 14 miles from his parents’ Brentwood house.
Investigators raided the motel room Nick had been staying in and found the shower “full of blood,” blood smeared all over the bed, and the windows blacked out with the bedsheets, TMZ reported.
Romy discovered the gruesome scene after her parents did not let in the masseuse they had booked.
While Nick was originally being held on $4 million bail, that has since been revoked, Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman said during a press conference on Tuesday.
Romy and her brother Jake released a joint statement asking for “respect and privacy” after the deaths of their parents.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” the siblings told TMZ on Wednesday.
“The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
Romy and Jake also thanked everyone for the support and tributes to their parents.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life,” they continued.
