The PM accused TMC of stalling greater representation of women in the assembly through its alliance with the Indian National Congress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday mounted a strong attack on the Trinamool Congress while addressing a rally in Jhargram, accusing the party of opposing women’s reservation and failing to address key issues in West Bengal.
Referring to the debate on women’s reservation, Modi said, “The BJP tried to ensure that women start benefiting from reservations from 2029. But the anti-women TMC opposed it in Parliament.” He further alleged, “The TMC resorted to every kind of deceit and trickery so that Bengal’s 33 percent women could not become MLAs and MPs. Now, Bengal’s women must punish the TMC for this sin.”
The Prime Minister also questioned the party’s commitment to its founding slogan. “I want to caution the sisters of Bengal about the misdeeds of the TMC. The TMC came to power talking about ‘Ma, Mati, Manush’ but the TMC has betrayed the mothers. In the recent past, you also saw in Parliament that the BJP tried to ensure that reservation for women in elections starting from 2029 begins, but the anti-women TMC opposed it in Parliament. The TMC resorted to every kind of deceit and trickery so that women of Bengal could not get 33% reservation,” he said.
Turning to governance issues, the Prime Minister outlined promises for farmers and criticised existing systems. “Form the BJP govt in Bengal, and we will leave no stone unturned to alleviate the problems of farmers. We will drive out the Syndicate of TMC, so that the exploitation of potato and paddy farmers can be stopped,” he said.
He also referred to policy proposals, adding, “Bengal BJP has made two announcements, too. Bengal BJP has decided on Rs 3100 MSP for the farmers of paddy. Besides, they have announced to increase the Kisan Samman Nidhi from Rs 6000 to Rs 9000.”
PM Modi Promises Welfare Push For Women
Highlighting welfare measures, PM Modi said the current government in West Bengal has failed to deliver benefits to women that are available in other states.
He also outlined promises if the BJP forms the government in the state. “If a BJP government comes to Bengal, poor sisters will get free ration; no one will be able to take away your ration. The BJP government in Bengal will provide assistance of up to Rs 1.5 lakh under the PM Awas Yojana for women to build permanent houses—how much? how much? The central government’s Ayushman scheme has been stopped here; as soon as a BJP government is formed in Bengal, women here will get free medical treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh.” PM Modi announced.
