The Cockroach Janta Party thanked Delhi Police after its first Jantar Mantar protest over alleged examination system failures. The group said public frustration was mounting and warned of a nationwide agitation within seven days if no action followed.
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), after their first on-ground protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged failures in the examination system, has thanked Delhi Police for facilitating what it described as a peaceful demonstration.
In a post on X, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das expressed gratitude to the police for extending support to the protest and for taking action against what he described as “anti-social elements”. He said the group’s primary objective was to ensure that the demonstration remained peaceful and orderly throughout the day.
“We would again like to thank the Delhi Police for extending all possible cooperation for this democratic protest! They quickly detained anti-social elements. They ensured things went smoothly,” read his tweet.
WHY THE PUBLIC AGITATION
According to the CJP, the protest was driven by growing public frustration over recurring controversies surrounding competitive examinations and a perceived lack of accountability. The organisation claimed that nearly eight lakh people had already signed petitions seeking the Education Minister’s resignation but alleged that there had been no response from the government.
“This protest is a result of high public frustration and a lack of outlets to register it,” the statement said.
The group also warned that the agitation could expand nationally if its demands are not addressed. “This is the beginning of a movement. If no action is taken within seven days, this movement will spread across the country,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police issued a clarification rejecting reports circulating on social media that claimed an FIR had been registered against the protesters. In a post on social media, the force stated that no such case had been filed and urged people not to spread unverified information.
DELHI POLICE DEPLOY A HEAVY FORCE
The protest prompted an extensive security operation across the national capital. More than 1,000 police personnel, supported by paramilitary forces, were deployed at Jantar Mantar and other key locations, including Indira Gandhi International Airport, major railway stations, interstate bus terminals and border entry points connecting Delhi with neighbouring states.
According to a PTI report, around 40 companies of paramilitary personnel were deployed to assist Delhi Police in maintaining law and order. Security was also heightened around the residence of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as a precautionary measure.
