Diljit Dosanjh continues to receive threats from banned Khalistani group SFJ after his gesture of touching Amitabh Bachchan’s feet sparked controversy.
Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh continues to face threats from Khalistani extremists after recent incidents at his international concerts. Following a threat issued by US-based Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, pro-Khalistan slogans were reportedly raised at Diljit’s concert in Perth, and the singer’s upcoming show in Auckland, New Zealand, has now been threatened with disruption by Khalistani goons.
Despite the growing tension, Diljit Dosanjh has chosen to stay calm and positive. The singer-actor shared a post thanking his Adelaide audience for their support, writing about not taking stress and maintaining control over one’s actions regardless of the situation. Fans lauded his dignified response amid the ongoing controversy.
The threats against Diljit began after he was seen touching Amitabh Bachchan’s feet during his appearance on ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 17’. The gesture drew backlash from Khalistani supporters, prompting Pannun and his banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) to release a video targeting him.
SFJ accused Diljit of “insulting every victim, widow, and orphan of the 1984 Sikh genocide” by showing respect to Amitabh Bachchan, alleging that the megastar “incited mobs” during the 1984 violence. “By touching feet of Bachchan, the man whose words orchestrated Genocide, Diljit Dosanjh has insulted every victim, every widow, and every orphan of 1984 Sikh Genocide,” Pannun said.
For context, the Sikhs for Justice group is banned in India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for its anti-national propaganda. The Indian Home Ministry has described SFJ as being involved in “subversive activities aimed at disrupting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India.”
