A devastating road accident in Maharashtra left seven women dead and four others seriously injured after a speeding truck rammed into a mini-truck carrying labourers on the Samruddhi Expressway in Jalna district. The incident, which occurred near Kadwanchi village, triggered grief and outrage across the region, once again highlighting concerns over reckless driving and road safety on high-speed corridors.

A truck, allegedly moving at high speed, approached from behind and crashed into the vehicle with tremendous force.
The impact was so severe that seven women died on the spot, while four others sustained critical injuries, including head trauma and fractures.
“A total of 11 persons, including the driver, were sitting in the tempo. As the vehicle was about to start, a speeding truck headed towards Mumbai rammed into it from behind at Kadvanchi village,” a police official said.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic and deeply distressing, with victims flung off the vehicle due to the collision.
Local residents were among the first to respond, quickly alerting authorities and assisting in rescue efforts.
Police teams and ambulances soon arrived at the spot, and an immediate rescue operation was launched.
The injured were initially taken to the district general hospital in Jalna before being shifted to a private facility for advanced treatment, where they remain under medical care.
Preliminary findings suggest that negligence and overspeeding by the truck driver may have led to the accident.
The police have taken the driver into custody and registered a case of culpable homicide.
Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and any additional lapses that may have contributed to the tragedy.
The deceased have been identified as Alkabai Dadarao Admane (45), Laxmibai Santosh Madan (35), Meenabai Parmeshwar Admane (45), Kanchanbai Prakash Admane (50), Tarabai Gahenaji Chaudhary (60), Kadubai Ramdas Madan (55), and Sumanbai Kachru Admane (70).
All were residents of nearby villages and were working as labourers.
Among the injured are Prayagbai Babasaheb Wagh (30), Kavita Vitthal Chaudhary (35), Dinesh Ranganath Gaikwad (42), and an unidentified woman aged around 50.
Doctors have indicated that several of the injured suffered serious head injuries and remain under close observation.
Public representatives and senior officials visited both the accident site and the hospital.
Local MLA Arjun Khotkar met with the injured and assured the victims’ families of government support and compensation.
District Collector Ashima Mittal and Superintendent of Police Ajaykumar Bansal also reviewed the situation and directed authorities to expedite relief measures and the investigation.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of seven lives, calling the incident extremely unfortunate. He announced an ex gratia compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of each of the deceased.
