Kenya Bus Accident: The High Commission of India in Nairobi expressed profound sorrow over the incident.
At least five individuals from Kerala, residing in Qatar, were killed in a bus accident in Kenya, where they were on a holiday. The victims were part of a group of 28 Indian nationals from Qatar visiting Kenya.
“A group of 28 Indians from Qatar were visiting Kenya, where their bus met with an unfortunate road accident yesterday,” the Embassy of India in Doha stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The deceased individuals from Kerala have been identified as Jasna, 29, from Venkitangu, near Guruvayur, and her daughter Ruhi Mehrin; Geetha Shoji, 58, hailing from Cherukol, near Mavelikkara; and Riya Puthanpurayil, 41, and her daughter Taira from Kanhirampara, Mannoor in Palakkad district.
Several individuals sustained injuries in the accident, including Jasna’s husband Muhammed Haneefa, Geetha’s husband Shoji Isaac and her son Abel, and Riya’s husband Joel and her son Travis. According to Joel, Geetha’s elder son, his brother Abel suffered a compound fracture requiring surgery. Shoji Isaac, who works in Qatar, had not yet been informed of his wife’s death.
The High Commission of India in Nairobi expressed profound sorrow over the incident.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic road accident on Ol Jororok-Nakuru Road in Nyandarua County, in which five Indian nationals have lost their lives,” the High Commission posted on X.
Officials from the High Commission of India in Nairobi are actively on the ground, extending all necessary assistance.
