A 13-year-old Afghan boy reached Delhi after secretly hiding in the landing gear compartment of a flight departing from Kabul, driven by what officials described as “curiosity.” The incident occurred on Sunday morning and came to light upon the aircraft’s arrival at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi.
According to official sources, the boy managed to enter the restricted area at Kabul airport and hide inside the rear central landing gear compartment of KAM Air flight RQ-4401. The flight, which departed from Kabul, landed in Delhi around 11.00 am after a two-hour journey.
Airport security was alerted when airline personnel spotted the teenager roaming near the aircraft after it landed.
The boy, a resident of Kunduz city in northern Afghanistan, was apprehended by airline staff and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). He was taken to Terminal 3 for questioning.
During the initial inquiry, the boy claimed he had entered the aircraft out of curiosity, without fully understanding the risks involved, according to a PTI report. The boy was repatriated to Afghanistan on the same aircraft, which departed Delhi around 12:30 pm on Sunday, officials confirmed.
