At least 10 militants were killed in an encounter with security forces near the India-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Chandel district on Wednesday night, the Army Eastern Command said. The operation is still in progress, it added.
The gunfight began after the militants opened fire upon the security personnel who were carrying out a search operation in New Samtal village in Khengjoy Tehsil of Chandel district after receiving intelligence input.
“Acting on specific intelligence on movement of armed cadres nearby New Samtal village, Khengjoy Tehsil, #Chandel District near the #Indo_MyanmarBorder, #AssamRifles unit under #SpearCorps launched an operation on 14 May 2025,” the Eastern Commande posted on X.
